My daughter, Maggie, heard a Sleep Country commercial on the radio when she was in kindergarten, talking about foster children and the things that they need that we take for granted. It made her really sad and she decided that for her upcoming birthday party, she would request donations for foster kids in lieu of gifts. She has done that every year since; some years collecting toys, several years, coats, and other years, basics like socks and underwear. Here she is after her 12th birthday, dropping off the 30+ coats she collected.
